After once being observed at the age of five wearing a bread bag on his arm and pretending to be “preg checking” between the cushions of the couch, veterinary medicine was clearly always his intended profession. He feels extremely fortunate to work in such a diverse and challenging field.
His interest in veterinary medicine began while watching his father practice, and it obviously made a lasting impression—as all three of his sons are now veterinarians, along with two daughters-in-law. His wife, Lisa, however, chose a different path as an RN who works with people.
He began his career in 2005 in Westlock as a mixed-animal veterinarian, experiencing firsthand a cattle industry trying to survive the devastation of BSE. In 2008, he became an owner and has since transitioned primarily to working with “hooves and feathers,” with a special interest in dairy and beef cattle, as well as small ruminants.
He shares this wonderful life with his wife, Lisa, and their three children, Jenna, Ryan and Kara, on an acreage overlooking the Pembina River. Outside of veterinary medicine, he enjoys travelling the world, gardening, watching his girls barrel race, downhill and water skiing, coaching volleyball, and goose hunting in the fall.
